HHSC 2008 - 2009 School Year Summer Wrap Up!
The 2008-2009 School year has finally come to a close! Hayes staff, students, parents and volunteers have given their all to work through budget cuts and financial hardships in ways that allow Hayes to continue to run like a well oiled machine. In response to the request of many of our families, the HHSC had a goal this year to try and cut back in our fundraising events in an effort to be sensitive to the current economic crisis. This next school year we hope to do even better! We are striving to make our fundraising activities more community based and less about selling products, although some salesmanship is simply unavoidable.
Where did all the money the HHSC raised go this past year?
Some of the items that the HHSC paid for in 2008-2009 included:
Assemblies and Programs Reading Counts Program
Community Safety Teacher Supply
Field Trip Hardships New Teacher Supply
Science Camp Margaret Young Mini Grant
School Supplies Continuing Operating Fund
Insurance School wide Improvement
Teacher and Staff Appreciation
In all, the HHSC covered over $32,000 in expenses.
What’s happening with the HHSC in 2009-2010?
We are in the planning stages of our Fall Festival/Walkathon which will be held on October 23rd. We are hopefully optimistic that we will be so successful in this event that it can provide supplies and services to Hayes staff and students for most of the year. However, the only way we can be successful as a school is to be successful as a community with the participation of our Hayes families, students and neighbors. We need as much help for this event as we can get and no offer of assistance will be turned away. We are in desperate need of corporate sponsors/donors and families who are willing to ask their employers for donations to our school. Anything donated, no matter how small, will be a great help.
We are looking for ways that we can get more people to attend our monthly meetings. We need new voices and fresh ideas to keep us going. All suggestions will be thoughtfully heard and considered! We are not an exclusive club and are hopeful that more parents will step forward to contribute their time to make Hayes a better school for all of our children.
Have a Fabulous Summer!
